Dordogne, commonly known as Périgord, is a department located in the southwest of France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Known for its medieval villages, green landscapes, and fine cuisine, Dordogne attracts more and more French and foreigners in search of a sweeter life and authentic landscapes. When we talk about Dordogne, we think of nature, the river, and forests. We imagine a life in the countryside, outdoor activities, and the gentleness of rural life. Périgord, on the other hand, evokes terroir, truffles, and vineyards! The promise of a "good living" life, foie gras, and walnut wine. It's a mix of both that people seek when settling in this authentic and warm part of France.

Geographically, Dordogne is divided into 4 territories:

• In the north, Périgord Vert, named for its meadows and forests. People settle here to be active, for hiking trails, and horseback riding.
• In the center, Périgord Blanc (named for its limestone soils) is renowned for its historical and cultural heritage: this is where Périgueux, the capital of the department, is located, with its Saint-Front cathedral and picturesque alleys, which make the pride of the Périgordians!
• To the east, Périgord Pourpre offers an idyllic living environment between vineyards and castles. You guessed it, the purple refers to the color of the vine leaves in autumn!
• And in the south, Périgord Noir, although named after the dark color of its green oak forests, is known for its prehistoric sites (including the famous Lascaux caves) and medieval villages. It is the most emblematic region of Dordogne, attracting many history enthusiasts tourists every year.

In addition to its exceptional heritage, Dordogne is also renowned for its refined and generous cuisine: foie gras, truffles, cep mushrooms, confits, and other local delights are pleasures to be enjoyed in the region. The Sunday market (a classic French tradition) takes on a whole new dimension here, where local producers offer us fresh and gourmet products, emblematic of the flavors of Périgord.

Dordogne is also an excellent choice for any real estate purchase: vineyards, stone houses, and historic manors are sold here at affordable prices, attracting French and international buyers in search of a more peaceful life, in a bucolic and historical place.
