Property summary
This beautiful detached property sits in stunning grounds in the village of Dunet, near the charming medieval town of Saint Benoit du Sault in the Indre. The property is around 200- 300 years old and is being sold fully furnished (and the furniture is gorgeous!) so you really can just unpack your suitcase and move in.
There are two entrance doors on the ground floor. The door on the right brings you into an entrance hall (12m2) with terracotta floor tiles and off to the right is a living room (40m2) with a fireplace and wooden floor. Off to the left is the dining room (32m2) which is unusual in that it's oval, so the cupboard doors are all charmingly curved, and one of these leads to a small store-room (8m2). A hallway from the dining room links up to the second entrance hall, again with terracotta floor tiles and with a wc tucked under the stairs. To the left of this entrance hall is the kitchen (32m2) which is rather "rustic" and needs to be refurbished but it could be just stunning with the original floor tiles and exposed beams. Plus, there's possibly the biggest stone fireplace we've ever seen and it would make a lovely feature point to any refurbishment. Next to the kitchen, but with a separate entrance, is a further room (30m2) which leads to the large terrace (70m2) with lovely views over the countryside.
On the first floor is a large landing and hallway which leads to all the bedrooms. There are four bedrooms (13, 27, 28 and 28m2) on this floor, two of which have dressing rooms (5 and 8m2) and all of which have fireplaces. There is also a shower room and full bathroom on this floor and beautiful wooden floors throughout.
The second floor is two large attic areas (32 and 92m2) and at one end of the attic is door which leads to a "secret bedroom" (36m2) in the eaves. Under the house is a huge (100m2) vaulted cellar with a closed off staircase that probably leads up to the kitchen.
The house sits in the middle of around 5,000m2 of garden which is lawn to the front of the house and a lawn and orchard area to the side and rear. In the corner of the front lawn is the old caretaker’s house with a living room (28m2) with a fireplace and bread oven and bathroom on the ground floor, and a bedroom (28m2) on the first floor with stunning beam-work. Attached to this is a run of pig sheds and there is also an old pigeonnier in the grounds which houses the utility room (10m2). At right angles to the house is a large outbuilding which includes stabling area (110m2), wood-store (32m2) and a garage (32m2) with a Cadillac in it. And yes, along with the furniture, the current owner is apparently including the car with the property as well!!
This is a beautiful large house at a very reasonable price, which we just loved, so if we win the Euromillions, we’ll be buying it ourselves!! While there is some modernising that needs to be done (like installing a proper kitchen!), with the furniture being left most of the rest of the house is utterly charming and you can just move straight in and enjoy the sunshine!
