Some 270 kilometres south of Paris and in the middle of the Indre department is our beautiful "Maison de Charme" The house is on a cultivated plot of just under a hectare with lawns, trees and fruit-trees and is surrounded by woodland, grassland, fields and farms. Here you will find lots of tranquillity, privacy and rest and during the night an astounding starry sky.
The buildings consist of the 3 bedroomed house, 2 attached outbuildings and an attached open barn which we use as a summer kitchen. It is in good condition; recently the entire ground floor has been retiled and all windows and the front door have been replaced with double glazed windows.
The living accommodation consists of a central entrance and hallway with a corridor to the back. On the left hand side is a sitting room with a large fireplace and a kitchen with extractor hood, dishwasher and other appliances. There is also an entrance to the large refurbished bathroom with walk in shower, fitted wash-basin, toilet and a large hot water tank. On the right side of the entrance hall there is a living room with ornamental chimney breast and thereafter is a typical oak staircase to the first floor where we have three bedrooms.
The house has oil fired central heating which heats up the property, with its thick walls and double glazed windows, very quickly. The good insulation means that the house also remains cool in summer - even when we had the famous heatwave.
Both outbuildings have a loft and are in use as store rooms for the oil tank and the garden equipment. They have potential as additional living accommodation. The open barn is used to store firewood and as a summer kitchen.
We would also be happy to sell some contents and items of garden equipment, so that the entire deal could be of a turn-key nature.
About The Area
The property is situated in the heart of the Indre, a rural department filled with woodlands, meadows and fields. It is ideal for people who like nature, fauna and sporting activities such as walking, golf and fishing. We are close to small villages with their charming markets and larger towns like Bourges or Tours which are within an hour's drive. We are about 20 km from Valencay famous for its Chateau, its wine and goat's cheese. A bit further afield, Saint Aignan marks the start of the Touraine wine area. Other notable attractions which are within easy reach are the chateaux of the Loire, Futuroscope, various golf courses and a small airstrip for amateur pilots. The house is about 20 km from the A 20-E9 highway which gives a fast connection to Orleans/Paris and also to the largely toll free autoroute to Toulouse/Spain.
There is no heavy industry and the air is as pure as it can be.
