Our house is situated directly at the waterfront , only seperated by a footpath , some olive trees , oleanders and a fig tree.
The path follows the lenght of the lake , we are about in the middle .
It is a flat path for easy walking or cycling to the village of Carcès ( 5 km ). Carcès is an unspoiled medieval, typical village of the Provence with 3000 inhabitants.
You can walk for hours if you like in the extensive natural area in the hills at the back of the house.
The lake has wellknown qualities for fishing, on carp ans sheatfish for instance.
To reach the motorway A8 is only 20 min .
The airports of Hyères ( Toulon ) , Marseille and Nice are on 60 – 90 min driving distance.
In just over 1 hour driving you are on the Mediterrean beaches or the Lac de Saint Croix with the Gorges du Verdon. Aix en Provence is 1 hour driving as well.
We bought the house in 2006 because of the magnificent view over the lake and the feeling of optimal privacy, despite of the fact that we have neighbours on both sides, good for the feeling of safety. One of the neighbours looks after our property when we are not there.
We used the house as a second home , we live in the Netherlands , and wanted a minimum to maintain and not a large garden to look after . We used it as a familyhouse , you can sleep in it with 6-8 persons.
We started the renovation in 2006:
We installed a new kitchen with all equipment like dishwasher, oven , microwave, gas cooking and a large fridge/freezer with filtered water.
In the kitchen is room for a large table for 10 people. Next to the kitchen is the upper terrace , which also gives entrance to the main bedroom with view on the lake with large sliding windows. Both terraces are at the south with a wonderfull view over the lake.
In the storage room at the back of the garage we installed a washing machine and dryer.
We totally renovated the bathroom and seperate toilet.
Nearly all windows are dubble glazed and shutters are placed.
The terrace is redone with handformed tiles and a low veranda is made. We built a swimming pool next to the terrace with all modern equipment like salt electrolyse , automatic level and Ph regulation in the garage.
There is a fireplace which can warm the whole house, but there is also a central heating on gascylinders.
