E Donjon de Cravant was built in the early fourteenth century. It is a centerpiece of the old village fortifications room. It serves in prison for the bishop of Auxerre. The Knights of the Templars were locked up in the late thirteenth century and early fourteenth century. It still retains, on the walls of jails, graffiti made by knights prisoners. From the fifteenth century, the keep serves in prison but also as a watchtower and stately home. Despite the absence of the defense system, the dungeon is used during the Hundred Years War and the wars of religion in the sixteenth century. In the eighteenth century, the tower is transformed and no longer serves as a residence. In 1991, le donjon de Cravant is classified as historical monuments for its medieval history.

During the Revolution, this hall was also used for holding municipal meetings. This is the second floor you can see the jails. It also was storing some provisions and weapons. Later, it served as an bedroom to the canons of passage. In the basement, you can see the foundations of the keep that was dig more than 17 meters, and the latrines are not "oubliettes" as was long believed.
