The Earl of Fayeres was President of the Society of Science, History, Art and Literature of Cannes.
His arms, are inlaid in mosaic in the floor of the main entrance.
In 1883, King Alexander from Bulgaria had a stay in the CHATEAU.
The Duke of Chartres, King Louis-Philippe’s grandson purchased it on the 28th of march 1883.
Under the name of Robert Le Fort, he took part of the war of 1870. He was volunteer for the Army of Normandy, and finished the war as a Major. He was Colonel in 1878, in charge of the 12th Régiment of Cavalry of Rouen. Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, he was dismissed in 1888, following the Exile Law.
After his death in 1910, the Chateau became Mister LAUS’s property, then in 1924, Mister Laurens’s, the cigarette manufacturer, and was finally bought by Lady Mallaby-Deeley from London in 1956.
