LOCATION:
Our farmhouse is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, completely free in nature, and is part of a hamlet of 15 houses. The village of Alligny, with the beautiful museum about the Morvande nurses, is 1 kilometre away. The town of Saulieu, famous for its basilica and gastronomy, is 8 kilometres away.
The House:
Our house combines the warm atmosphere of original features with pleasant modern comfort. It is ready to move in and habitable all year round due to the presence of heating. Our insulated roof was completely re-panelled in 2023 and covered with new slates.

Ground floor:

The former indoor barn (the 'grange', 60 m2) next to the living room, is two floors high and has beautiful wooden doors to the garden. We use it as an indoor play paradise for the grandchildren, but this space is also suitable as a studio, a workshop, a gym or a space for group activities (yoga classes, courses).
Next to the grange is an 'écurie' (once cowsheds) that we now use as a storage place.
Underneath the living room is the 'cave', an arched cool (wine) cellar of 45 m2, which is accessible from the outside via a staircase.
First floor:
With a wooden staircase from the living room you reach the first floor on the north side, fully equipped with a wooden floor. On the spacious landing are 3 large bedrooms with Velux skylights (2 x 10m2 and 1 x 16) and a very spacious bathroom with central heating, freestanding designer bath, separate shower, toilet, bidet and two sinks.
From the large grange you reach the loft on the south side via a staircase. There are 2 extra bedrooms in addition to a second bathroom, with double sinks and a shower. This floor is also fully equipped with wooden floors. The bedrooms (each 17 m2) both have 2 windows with a formidable view over the beautiful Morvande landscape with its hedges and meadows. Due to the physical separation from the north side of the house and the private hot water supply, these rooms are excellent for friendly or paying (B&B) guests.
TERRAIN:
The farmhouse is surrounded by a well-kept garden of 1.23 hectares with an open woodshed and a restored caravan. The well and the stream offer an idyllic atmosphere. On the north side of the house are two former pig pens. The central heating boiler is located in one of them.
Energy:
The brand new roof (autumn 2023) is - with the exception of the grange - fully insulated. Outside is a gas tank underground, which supplies energy to the central heating boiler and the 6-burner stove. All our windows are double glazed and have wooden shutters. For the hot water supply on the south side, a large boiler has been installed.
Accessibility:
By car, the Morvan is easily accessible via Paris, Reims or Dijon. The TGV (the fast train connection) will take you to Dijon or Montbard. From there there is a direct fast bus connection to Saulieu.
Burgundy And Morvan:
In beautiful Burgundy, world famous for its wine, there are several historic cities with cathedrals worth seeing and interesting buildings, such as Autun, Nevers, Vezelay, Dijon and Beaune. The Morvan Regional Nature Park, of which our village is a part, is an unspoilt, hilly area with valleys, forests and large lakes. Here the cows are still outside, the birds are chirping and the Milky Way can be seen in its full extent. There is peace and space for walkers and cyclists.
