In the heart of Normandy, in Calvados and on the Way of St. James, an 18th century pilgrimage manor surrounded by 4,000 m² of greenery. Established on the first northern slopes on the outskirts of Lisieux, near the coastal river Touques, the manor house is located in a green environment. It has its origins in the Middle Ages and its name from a canon to whom a prebend was assigned by the bishop against the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. The plot is deep and forms a triangle at the crossroads of two quiet, rural-looking streets. The majestic building is made up of a large block, facing the lawns that border the access to the property. A driveway divided into two branches accesses the manor house on either side and leads to the garage, at the front. An imposing green cover to the north is preceded by a fruit and vegetable garden with lawns. A thick cedar hedge surrounds the small estate, a guarantee of privacy. Beyond, a semi-rural habitat is set in green and forested landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see. The manor house, built in the 1960s, when the clearing was almost complete in the region, was a large half-timbered quadrangle known as 'corondages', characteristic of the constructions of the Pays d'Auge. On the main part, it is raised by three levels. Oak was used to form the framework of the house and cob to fill the spaces between the doves, then traditionally covered with lime plaster. An inexpensive process at the time, it is now part of the very particular and old-fashioned identity of Norman residences. The half-timbering is mainly found at the top of the building, with the lower part of brick and stone masonry. The hipped roof is made of old tiles. A recess to the south of the house was built in the same spirit, apparently after the Second World War, and covered with a hipped roof with eaves. Two skylights look perpendicular to the two that pierce the main roof on this side of the house. On the entrance side, there are three more overcab dormers and two brick chimneys. All the joinery is single glazed and small old tiles. At the end of the building, a building adjoining the manor house, with a gable roof of old tiles pierced by a small dormer, forms a lean-to that has become a garage. Used as a utility room, it must have been part of the farmhouse, the original construction on which the manor house was aggregated.
